Nigerian American Mothers for Youth Advancement USA (NAMYAUSA) is a membership association made up of visionary mothers with utmost integrity and commitment to teamwork.  As accomplished professionals in different careers, each member is accorded equal respect and right. In addition, members are committed to the virtues of collaboration, accountability, flexibility and optimism.

These undaunted mothers first convened on July 25, 2010, with the noble aim and zeal of empowering our young adults in order to strengthen our families and communities at large.  This laudable idea of youth empowerment gave birth to Nigerian American Young Adults (NAYA), which is the umbrella association for youths under NAMYAUSA.

NAYA is, therefore, an integral part of NAMYAUSA which affords the youths in the association opportunity to interact with one another, engage in social and professional networking, and undertake leadership roles through mentoring.

Since 2010, we have consistently been hosting a yearly end of year celebration for our young adults. This has been a beautiful and thrilling experience for everyone involved.  This social networking opportunity is so unique in the sense that our young adults play an integral role in organizing the event as well as act as entertainers, masters of ceremony and DJs.  Even though we provide them with the needed resources, these young adults undertake leadership roles and initiatives in articulating and implementing how the event unfolds.  As mothers, we can attest to the beneficial effects of such networking in helping our young adults mature.  We are proud of their accomplishments thus far.

I am an African not because I was born in Africa, but because the spirit of Africa lives in me

Indeed, NAMYAUSA will be relentless in providing the support NAYA needs.  We are poised to continue to offer scholarships to assist them in their pursuit of education and careers.  In addition, we will help connect them with accomplished professionals and mentors to guide them as they make career choices and decisions.

Furthermore, we organize the Mother’s Day Gala, an annual event, which offers us the opportunity to raise much-needed funds to support our activities.

Undoubtedly, NAMYAUSA is a membership association with by-laws duly enacted by her members to guide, protect and govern her operations and functions.  These by-laws are well-calibrated and can be accessed under the “membership” header on this website.

As encapsulated in our by-laws, our officers are elected every two years.  We also have Committee Chairs and Board of Trustee members who are appointed every two years.  Consequently, members pledge to abide by the spirit and intent of forming the association and uphold her by-laws.  We also strive to promote mutual respect, transparency and understanding amongst members to avoid rancor.

Finally, as we solicit the support of everyone, we encourage other women who believe in teamwork to join NAMYAUSA in pursuit of our goals and mission of making our families and communities better.

May God continue to bless NAMYAUSA and NAYA.

Lady Clem Okorji

Chairwoman Emeritus, NAMYAUSA
